The costumes of Wes Anderson’s movies are always a part of his unique visual world and the clothes help to define his characters. Typically they range from being impossibly cool to even peculiar. The wardrobe in The Grand Budapest Hotel film would not be any different. In a fashionable partnership with Fendi, the Oscar winner Milena Canonero, designed sketches of coats and detail pieces.
The Italian Fashion House developed some of the film’s actors clothes, including Edward Norton and Tilda Swinton. The creations were a big double-breasted military style coat in grey astrakhan for the inspector Henckel character (Edward Norton) and a sumptuous hand painted Italian silk velvet cape for Madame D character (Tilda Swinton). Each of these pieces has been carefully designed and crafted to recreate the perfect late 20’s atmosphere of the film.
