Budapest Summer Festival
The Budapest Summer Festival presents a three-month programme of concerts, musicals and theatre throughout June, July and August. From operas to the circus, the performances take place at different locations across the city.

Városmajori Szabadtéri Színpad, 1122 Budapest
The Városmajor Open-Air Theater is located in a beautiful park on the Buda side of the city. The iconic theatre can seat around 1000 people. The perfect venue in the summer, there are a variety of performances taking place from the 10th of June until the 29th of August. If you’re looking for something to do with the children, this is a must visit!

Festival of Folk Arts
The Festival of Folk Arts is a prestigious event where Hungarian folk arts and traditions are celebrated in the historic setting of Buda Castle. A must-see summer event, the festival takes place between the 20th and 23rd of August. The main goal of the festival has remained the same for nearly three decades: to present very rare but existing crafts thanks to creative minds and hardworking people from the past. Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix 22 – 24. July
The F1 Hungarian Grand Prix will be held on 24th July at the Hungaroring race track in Mogyoród village just outside of Budapest. One of the THE sporting events of the year!

Danube Carnival
The Budapest Carnival is celebrating its 21st anniversary this year. It is an important fixture on Budapest’s annual calendar, both for the modern dance industry and for Hungarian folk culture. Over the course of the festival a variety of dance shows are held across the capital including more traditional and international modern styles.

St Stephen’s Day
St Stephen’s Day is a national holiday celebrating Hungary’s first king St. Stephen, as well as the foundation of Hungary. In Budapest there’s a special mass at St. Stephen’s Basilica, the procession of St. Stephen’s Holy Right Hand, open-air concerts, a “national cake” chosen, food stalls along the banks of the Danube, as well as huge fireworks over the Danube at night.
